Mozelle
Memoir Contest: 2006 Winners Prize: $500 and
publication For short memoirs of only 3000 words or less The
Mozelle Memoir Contest, sponsored by the Writers' League of Texas and founded
by League members Barbara and Roy Minton, offers an opportunity for writers to
tell the stories they've always meant to write. The name of the contest is derived
from the title of Barbara's first published story in The Noble Generation Volume
II (Word Wright International.biz 2004). Barbara wrote about a childhood friend
who claimed to be kin to singer Lena Horne. Mozelle's full name was Mary Mozelle
Fanny Elnora Major, but she liked to be called Mozelle. Barbara's family thought
it was appropriate that the memoir contest be named after Mozelle. Unpublished
writers are strongly encouraged to participate. |
