Letters from the Program Director: It’s Not a Sprint

Hello, writers!

Something I hear folks say all the time is that writing a book is a marathon, not a sprint and I love that saying because it’s absolutely true. Endurance is an important part of the process because not only do you need it to get you to the end, but you also need it to get you through the revision process and the publishing process and then, if you want to write another book, you need to do it all over again.

The fact is this process doesn’t necessarily get any easier the more times you do it, but you can make sure that you’re equipped with the tools you need to take on any challenge that your writing project throws at you. And to do just that, we’re offering a new “Fuel Your Writing Practice” class package. Over the course of four classes taught by four fantastic instructors, you will learn about the tools you need to face the challenges that arise at every step of the writing process.

The “Fuel Your Writing Practice” class package kicks off on October 16th with a class from Stacey Swann where you’ll face your writer’s block and the fears that keep you from writing. Then you’ll move to pre-writing with Jennifer Ziegler for when you’re ready to start diving into a project. Once you’re in the thick of it, you’ll look at how to keep the momentum going and how to get over “the dreaded middle” with Sherri L. Smith. And lastly, you’ll finish this journey with Gabino Iglesias as he takes you through everything from finding the right ending to making sure that you have the best chance at seeing your book on the shelf.

And the best part is that you don’t have to do any of this alone. Throughout the class package, we’ll host three meet-ups for all registrants to attend. You’ll walk away with everything you need to know to make your writing goals a reality and hopefully, you’ll make a few friends along the way too. We hope you’ll join us for this unique opportunity! Sign up by Friday, October 16th for the full class package experience and get ready to fuel your writing practice for years to come.

All the best,
Sam Babiak
Program Director
