Letters from the Program Director: Write Before You Write

Hello writers,

Whether you’re a plotter, a pantser, or something in between, the work of seeing a story through is never easy. On this journey, you’ll face plot issues, character development problems, internal doubt, and so much more. The problem is that sometimes these issues seem so insurmountable when you’re in the weeds of writing your story that they keep you from reaching “The End.”

So no matter what kind of writer you are, it’s incredibly valuable to understand what pre-writing techniques work best for you and the story you’re trying to tell. By doing some work up front, you can avoid project-killing problems and see your story to its conclusion.

That’s why we’re excited to be offering the class Write Before You Write: Outlining, Planning, and Plotting” with Jennifer Ziegler on Saturday, November 6If you tend to get lost in your own stories, or you’re still trying to figure out what writing process works best for you, this class is for you.

All the best,
Sam Babiak
Program Director
