Letters from the Program Director: What Does Being a Writer Look Like?

Hello writers,

For many of us, writing full-time seems like an unattainable dream. I’ve been asked before if it’s as impossible as it seems and while the answer is no, it’s not impossible, the truth is that transitioning to writing full-time is a difficult thing to accomplish. You can’t just decide to quit your day job one day without thinking about what you need in terms of financial stability, how fast you can produce work, whether you have the resources and support to see it all through, and so much more. To make the leap successfully, you need a plan.

That’s why we’re excited to offer the class “The Author’s Escape Plan: The Personal, Emotional, and Financial Logistics of Becoming a Full-time Author” with Laekan Zea Kemp on Saturday, June 4th. If your ultimate goal is to become a full-time author and you want to understand what it takes, this class is for you.

All the best,
Sam Babiak
Program Director
