Letters from the Program Director: Braving New Worlds

Hello, writers!

All kinds of writing require some form of worldbuilding, but I think we can all agree that science fiction and fantasy writers take the cake when it comes to creating new worlds. From Tolkien’s Middle Earth to George R.R. Martin’s Westeros, there are countless worlds readers have explored and come to love in the realm of fiction. But how did these writers accomplish building such expansive and memorable worlds? Well, there is no one answer, but there is a great deal to learn from science fiction and fantasy writers who continue to accomplish the impossible on the page.

That’s why we’re excited to be offering the class “Worldbuilding Tactics for Science Fiction and Fantasy” with Matt Bell on Saturday, November 19th. If you’re writing science fiction and fantasy or simply want to learn how to build more believable words, this class is for you.

All the best,
Sam Babiak
Program Director
