Fun Facts: In July 1991, our organization name was still the Austin Writers’ League. The topic of Third Thursday that month was “The Accidental Romance” featuring a talk by (wait for it…) Diana Gabaldon. Yes, THAT Diana Gabaldon. The mega-bestselling author of the Outlander series. The First Annual University Co-op/ Austin Writers’ League Book Awards (which would become what are now the WLT Book Awards) opened up for submissions (yes, the book awards are celebrating 30 years this year!) and the Board of Directors put forth recommended revisions to the League’s new(ish) Bylaws.
