The 2025 Agents Symposium is a curated year-long experience that brings writers into a virtual space to connect with and learn about publishing today from featured literary agents. Learn more about the 2025 Agents Symposium here.

In this presentation, literary agent Mary C. Moore will walk writers through the query process, starting with the reasons you should query, the timing behind the submission process, which agents/agencies you should reach out to, and finally how to package your submission so that it has the best chance of being considered.

The presentation will be followed by a moderated conversation and an audience Q&A. For the conversation, our presenter Mary C. Moore of Aevitas Creative Management will be joined by WLT Program Director Sarah Renee Beach.

Do you have burning questions about the querying process that you want to make sure we answer? You can share them with us ahead of the event via this form and then tune in for the live webinar on Saturday, March 22, where all will be revealed. The deadline to submit your questions is Thursday, March 20 at 5:00 PM CT (questions will also be accepted via the Q&A box during the event).

Registration for this presentation will close on Friday, March 21 at 5:00 PM CDT.

This presentation will be recorded and made available to participants until January 31, 2026.

Instructor

Mary C. Moore represents a wide range of fiction as an Aevitas agent based in the Bay Area. She likes to work with clients long-term, and is comfortable representing multiple genres/age-ranges that an author is interested in, although prefers to begin a partnership in one genre before jumping to another. She is currently hoping to find layered and deeply satisfying upmarket fiction, bookclub fiction with light speculative elements, and smart female sleuth stories.
