You’ve got an agent. (Yay!) You’ve done the necessary revisions. (Yay!) Now it’s time to go on submission. From the pitch letter and submission list to officially sending it out, there can be endless questions about what comes next, but you don’t know what you don’t know. In this webinar, Samantha Fabien of Root Literary will demystify the process by sharing a peek into the strategy and next steps, so you can feel empowered while on submission.
The presentation will be followed by a moderated conversation and an audience Q&A. For the conversation, our presenter Samantha Fabien of Root Literary will be joined by WLT Program Director Sarah Renee Beach.
Do you have burning questions about the submission process that you want to make sure we answer? You can share them with us ahead of the event via this form and then tune in for the live webinar on Saturday, July 26 where all will be revealed. The deadline to submit your questions is Thursday, July 24 at 5:00 PM CT (questions will also be accepted via the Q&A box during the event).
Registration for this presentation will close on Friday, July 25 at 5:00 PM CDT.
This class will be recorded and made available to class registrants until January 31, 2026.

Samantha Fabien (she/her) is a literary agent at Root Literary, representing award-winning and bestselling authors. She's interested in high-concept, commercial, and upmarket fiction with all-or-nothing stakes for adult, young adult, and middle grade readers. Belonging to several intersectional identities and surrounded by an equally diverse community, Samantha has a deep-held passion for stories that feature, highlight, and uplift marginalized and underrepresented voices. Her background includes a Bachelor's in PR and Journalism from Seton Hall University and a certificate from the Columbia Publishing Course. Previously, she was the International Rights Manager at LDLA and also interned and worked at various agencies, such as Ayesha Pande Literary and Writers House. From these experiences, Samantha fostered a love for sharing diverse, lasting, and inclusive stories with the world—both in the U.S. and abroad. Samantha also works and volunteers with organizations, including Gotham Writers, Authors Guild, and the New York Writing Room. Currently, she serves as a co-director of the Mentorship Committee within AALA and LAOC, which is devoted to increasing the promotion and retention of historically underrepresented groups, particularly people of color, in the agenting profession.
