Have you ever imagined getting a grant to support your writing time? Attending a residency that offers tranquil space to do your creative work? Receiving feedback from seasoned authors at a workshop to help you hone your craft?

In this class, we’ll walk through how to find artist resources, assess those opportunities, and apply with confidence. We’ll discuss the contents of a standard application packet—an artist bio, artist statement, work sample, project proposal, and artist CV—and how to make them stand out. We’ll also discuss what to expect from grant, residency, and workshop experiences once you’ve been accepted. Established and emerging writers will leave this class with concrete strategies for identifying resources that are right for them and crafting a competitive application.

TAKE THIS CLASS IF:

  • You’re interested in finding grant funding to support your writing time.
  • You’re looking to attend an artist residency.
  • You’ve always wanted to apply to a grant, residency, or workshop but don’t know where to find reputable opportunities.
  • You’re intimidated by the prospect of putting together an application packet for artist resources.

The deadline to register for this class is Wednesday, October 22 at 5:00 PM CDT.

Can’t make it to the live class? No problem! All classes are recorded and made available to students until January 31, 2026.
