The One Page Salon (called “the best literary evening in town” by the Austin American-Statesman) is a monthly reading series presented by the Writers’ League of Texas.
Five outstanding writers will read one page from a work in progress or recently published work, which means the audience will be among the first to hear new material from our talented line-up. Plus, there will be literary chit chat and fun & games and laughter and so much more.
The One Page Salon takes place on the lovely outdoor patio (weather permitting) at Radio Coffee & Beer in South Austin where attendees can enjoy coffee and beer and other libations. There are some tasty food trucks if you want to pick up a bite to eat and Reverie Books will be on hand selling an assortment of great reads, including our readers’ latest books. Your host for the evening will be Becka Oliver.

Dina Guidubaldi grew up in Kent, Ohio. She moved to Texas to for the sunshine (watch what you wish for!) and to get her MFA at Texas State University. Her first story collection, How Gone We Got, was published in 2015, and she’s just finished her second. She teaches at St. Edward’s University in Austin and lives in a purple house. -
Amanda Johnston is a writer, visual artist, and the 61st Poet Laureate of Texas. She earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine. She is the author of two chapbooks, GUAP and Lock & Key, the full-length collection Another Way to Say Enter, and editor of Praisesong for the People: Poems from the Heart and Soul of Texas. Her work has appeared in numerous online and print publications, among them Callaloo, Poetry Magazine, The Moth Radio Hour, Bill Moyers, The Rumpus, and the anthologies Furious Flower: Seeding the Future of African American Poetry and Women of Resistance: Poems for a New Feminism. She has received fellowships, grants, and awards from Cave Canem, Hedgebrook, Tasajillo, the Kentucky Foundation for Women, The Watermill Center, American Short Fiction, and the Academy of American Poets. She is a former Board President of Cave Canem Foundation and founder of Torch Literary Arts.

Julio Lucero is a former restaurateur, turned author. His debut book, Abuelita I Am Your Grandson, is a collection of stories and essays that draw from his experience working in his family’s business, Julio’s Café in Hyde Park. He is a third-generation Austinite, and when he isn’t pondering his next project, he enjoys social dancing and spending time with the people he loves.
- Nora Meckel is 13 years old at Clint Small Middle School. She is very into theater, as she won best actor in 7th/8th grade. Nora enjoys Girl Scouts, writing, volunteering, and babysitting. She especially loves writing poetry, which is what she'll be reading for us today!
Oscar Rodriguez has been writing in earnest since about 2003, beginning with a screenplay that missed winning a Michener Fellowship by 1 spot, back in '05. So he moved to San Miguel de Allende for a couple of years to start writing the great Mexican-American novel, finally finishing the first draft in 2015. Soon after that, he co-wrote a TV pilot with his screenwriting mentor from UT's film school, Tom Willett. More recently, in between various drafts of the book (a memoir now) he's delved into journalism, reviewing a number of books for the likes of May Cobb and Nick Wade over at the Austin Chronicle over the past couple of years. And after 4/1/25, he'll be a member of the 5X Club at the One! Page! Salon! Incidentally, he wonders if that comes with a sweet smoker's jacket...

Class & Event Registration Policy
Once a purchase has been made, registrations are not refundable and cannot be transferred to a different class or event. No exceptions will be made. If you purchase a registration and then find you cannot attend the class or event, someone else can attend in your stead. Simply contact us at wlt@writersleague.org and let us know the name and contact information for the person who will be using the registration so that we can update the class or event roster.

Anti-Harassment Policy

- Sexual images not appropriate for the specific subject of the public discussion;
- Deliberate intimidation or stalking;
- Harassing photography or recording;

- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
Enforcement
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, event organizers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund. Event organizers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants. We expect participants to follow these rules during all events and event-related social activities.
Reporting
If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Reports can also be made via email at wlt@writersleague.org. We’ll handle any and all reports as respectfully as possible. You won’t be asked to confront anyone, and we won’t tell anyone who you are.
