Writing a book from beginning to end is an exciting accomplishment, but the real magic happens in revision.
All writers are different: at times, we choose to work alone; at others, we band together to help each other realize our dreams. Whether you’re working alone or with a writing group, we will cover both conventional and experimental ways to strengthen your approach to revision. We’ll address common concerns while revising, such as organization, workflow, pacing, character arcs, causation, and building towards resonant meanings and themes; as well as explore more “experimental” methods for livening developmental drafts. Attendees will walk away with the tools to craft their own unique approach to revision—one that honors their creative vision.
TAKE THIS CLASS IF
- You are writing a novel.
- You’ve started the revision process, but you’re not sure you’re going in the right direction.
- You are looking for ways to see your writing anew.
- You can’t figure out why your novel isn’t working.
- You’re hoping to expand your and your writing group’s toolkit.
The deadline to register for this class is Friday, May 20 at 5:00 PM CDT.
