Award-winning teacher and novelist Greg Garrett will explore the nuances of voice and point of view to explain why HOW you tell your story can matter as much as WHAT story you tell.
The musical Hamilton asks multiple times, “Who tells your story?” It’s a question worth pondering for every writer, and it includes decisions about point of view and voice. The two concepts are sometimes confused by beginning writers, but they are each distinctive story tools that matter. Your individual storytelling voice will distinguish your fiction from any other writer’s, and your choice of point of view will shape how you tell your story, what character insights are and aren’t available to you, and how powerfully your readers connect to your characters.
TAKE THIS CLASS IF
- You’re writing fiction of any kind.
- You want to better understand what voice and point of view are and how they work in your story.
- You want to develop your own distinctive voice.
- You’re wondering how to choose the point of view for a current project.
The deadline to register for this class is Wednesday, October 12 at 5:00 PM CDT.
