Texas Writes in Fort Davis, TX

Texas Writes is a statewide program that brings accomplished authors to rural libraries for a half day of presentations and panel discussions focused on the craft of writing.

Our Fort Davis, TX event features Stacey Swann presenting “Past Page One: Moving Writing Projects Forward” and Becka Oliver presenting “The Path to Publication”.

Owen EgertonOwen Egerton is the writer/director of three feature films: FollowBlood Fest, and Mercy Black which premiered on Netflix this past spring. As a screenwriter, Egerton has written for Fox, Disney, and Warner Brothers, and HBO. He’s written several novels including The Book of Harold the Illegitimate Son of God and Hollow, which was named one of the Best Books of 2017 by NPR. Egerton is also one of the comics behind the Alamo Drafthouse’s Master Pancake Theater.
Jodi Egerton is a co-founder and wordslinger with Typewriter Rodeo, creating custom, on-the-spot poems using a vintage typewriter. She's typed poems at all kinds of events--from the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, to the beach in Cabo San Lucas, to Willie Nelson's ranch in Luck, Texas. You can hear her crafting poems on her 1970 Litton Imperial on Typewriter Rodeo’s weekly Texas Standard segment on Austin’s NPR station, KUT 90.5. Jodi also has a Ph.D. in English from the University of Texas-Austin. With her spouse Owen Egerton, Jodi co-wrote the creativity and writing craft book This Word Now.
