WLT hosts On the Writing Life talks a few times a year, featuring presentations from writers and professionals on what it’s like to be a human who happens to be a writer. These talks focus on best practices for the writing life, from mental health discussions to yoga for writers, and more.
About the event:

Mary Oliver once wrote that “Attention is the beginning of devotion” and this can be said for writing and for life. Join author, writing coach, and certified meditation teacher Heather Demetrios for an engaging workshop on how to bring mindfulness practice to the writer’s seat and to the page. This workshop will give you specific and actionable tools that you can bring into your writer’s cave right away: how to work with the inner critic, what to do when you have a tough writing day, how paying attention to your breath and body and the world around you will open up a channel of flow and focus, as well as up the ante in your writing. Heather will get into why the inner work you do is the most important aspect of your writing self that you can attend to, as well as offer a slew of resources to take home to build on what you learn with her. Breathe. Write. Repeat.

Join us for this presentation if:

  • If you’re curious about mindfulness and how you can incorporate it into your writing practice.
  • You struggle with your inner critic and writer’s block and want resources to help you keep writing.
  • You’re looking for new and exciting ways to enrich your writing life.
