A few times a year, the WLT hosts Saturday Craft Seminars featuring a presentation and conversation with an author who has just released a book on the craft of writing. Everyone who buys a ticket will receive a signed copy of the book and access to the live event on Zoom.
This July, we can’t wait to dive into craft with two exciting WLT Saturday Craft Seminars. The first (on July 9th) will feature Melissa Febos and her craft book “Body Work” and the second (on July 30th) will feature Benjamin Percy and his book “Thrill Me.”
IMPORTANT: If you are registered for the 2022 Summer Writing Retreat, your registration includes access to both WLT Saturday Craft Seminars in July (plus the books). You do not need to register here for this event.
About the event:
In this interactive lecture, Melissa Febos will explore the power of personal writing as a tool for individual and societal change. Using research, anecdotes drawn from her 15-years of teaching and writing, and craft techniques, she will counter the internalized voices that inhibit writers who have a story to tell but fear that they will be judged as self-indulgent, unexceptional, or “navel-gazing.” She will offer practical strategies for maintaining a personal writing practice, the pitfalls of implicating other people in one’s writing, and handling provocative topics, drawn from her nationally bestselling craft book: Body Work: The Radical Power of Personal Narrative. A substantial Q&A will follow, so bring your queries and concerns!
About the book:
If you can’t make the live event, don’t worry! This presentation will be recorded and made available for everyone who registers.
