Don’t Miss: 2022 WLT Fellowship Applications Now Open

We’re now accepting applications for the 2022 WLT Fellowship Program.

This year, we will select five WLT Fellows, including the 2022 Bess Whitehead Scott Creative Writing Fellow (a writer over the age of 40 from the pool of fellowship applicants who we believe embodies the spirit of Bess Whitehead Scott, a Texas writer, a friend of the WLT, and a trailblazer who served as inspiration to so many).

Each WLT Fellow will receive tuition-free access to a curated slate of classes, two per month (24 total). In addition, each WLT Fellow will be invited to attend the annual Agents & Editors Conference in Austin, TX (June 24-26, 2022), with the registration fee waived and hotel accommodations provided, plus the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a literary agent during the weekend-long event. Throughout the year, our WLT Fellows will connect regularly with each other and each writer will be assigned a WLT staff member who will make themselves available for monthly check-ins.

The application is open to all writers currently living in Texas, but the fellowship specifically aims to support writers in need of financial assistance in reaching their writing goals. In addition, writers of color, ethnic minorities, those who identify as LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, and other members of communities historically underrepresented by the literary community are particularly encouraged to apply.

The 2022 WLT Fellowship Program is accepting applications from November 1-30, 2021. The 2022 WLT Fellows will be notified no later than Thursday, December 16, 2021. All current Texas residents, 18 and older, are welcome to apply.
