internship opportunities

The WLT provides hands-on experience for student interns who are pursuing a degree in English, communications, creative writing, marketing, public relations, journalism, event planning, or related fields. Interns typically work for a four-month (semester-long) period, approximately 4 to 10 hours a week, depending on need and availability. All internships come with a stipend for the semester and can be structured to qualify for course credit as needed.

What interns will gain:
• Experience in event planning (if they overlap with planning dates for the annual A&E Conference, the Summer Writing Retreat, or other special events);
• A firsthand look at a nonprofit organization and how it works, including planning programs, fundraising, member services, marketing & promotion;
• An understanding of the larger publishing industry as well as an introduction to the literary community in Texas and beyond.

To apply for an internship, please send an electronic version of a resume and cover letter to wlt@writersleague.org
