Volunteering at an in-person event is a great way to get to know the WLT community, including the staff, the board of directors, and fellow members. Our volunteer opportunities are available to current members only. If you’re interested in volunteering (or if you have any questions about anything detailed here), reach out to us at member@writersleague.org or call us at 512-499-8914.
Our current volunteer opportunities include:
• Class Assisting: As a class assistant you would host our online classes and write-ins. It would be your job to make sure these online events start on time and run smoothly.
• Tabling: At in-person events like the ones listed below, you will spend time at the WLT table and help provide information about WLT and its programs, promote membership, answer questions, and collect information.
Texas Book Festival, San Antonio Book Festival, Boerne Book Festival, Greater Austin Book Fest, and more.
• Member Captain: As a member captain at the Big Writer Meetup, you will find a venue in your area, then organize and lead a writer meetup event. Two virtual captain training sessions will tell you everything you need to know about planning the event.
• Agents & Editors Conference Volunteer: You will help the conference move smoothly, make sure panelists are rotating through their rooms on time, pull quotes from panels, man the information desk, and complete other tasks as needed.
• In-office Support: You will provide support for administrative tasks such as member renewal mailings and more.
