Letters from the Program Director: Bring on the Magic

Hello, writers!

As storytellers, we’re always looking for magic on the page, but for fiction and nonfiction writers whose works are rooted in our reality, it’s easy to get lost in the ordinariness of it all. In the end, writing a compelling story requires more than the mundane to capture readers, we need to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. Luckily, magical realism is a tool writers have been using since the 20th century to create more powerful stories.

That’s why we’re excited to offer “Magical Realism: Finding the Extraordinary in the Ordinary” with Alex Temblador this Wednesday, February 8th. If you‘re writing fiction or nonfiction and are curious about how magical realism might be a tool you can use in your storytelling, this class is for you.

All the best,
Sam Babiak
Program Director
