Letters from the Program Director: Explore Your Personal Story

Hello writers,

This Saturday, we’re hosting our second ever WLT Saturday Craft Seminar with one of our favorite writers and teachers, Melissa Febos. Her new craft book, Body Work: The Radical Power of Personal Narrative, is “a must read for anybody shoving a pen across paper or staring into a screen or a past” according to acclaimed memoirist Mary Karr. We can’t wait to hear Melissa talk about her philosophy regarding personal narratives and the craft techniques she uses and teaches. We’ve also partnered with BookPeople, a local independent bookstore in Austin, Texas to ensure that every registrant gets a copy of this groundbreaking craft book.

Plus, this special seminar will not only include a presentation and a copy of the book, but we’ll also end the event with a short conversation with Melissa on the topic of writing a craft book and then we’ll open it up to the audience to ask their burning questions. Register by Friday, July 8th at 5:00 pm CDT and spend your Saturday morning diving into the power of personal narratives with us. And if you can’t make it but want to get in on the action, the event will be recorded and made available for one month. We hope to see you there!

All the best,
Sam Babiak
Program Director
