Meet the Board Members: Gina E Springer Shirley

“I joined to learn how to create the stories I wanted to read; I stay because of the camaraderie in the WLT community.“

— Gina E Springer Shirley

A member of the Writers’ League since 2011, Gina lives in Austin, TX.

Scribe: Welcome, writer! Tell us — what do you write?

Gina E Springer Shirley: Women’s Fiction.

Scribe: How did you come to join the WLT?

GESS: Fabulous longtime WLT member Beth Sample introduced me to all things WLT.

Scribe: If you could choose one author to blurb your book, who would it be, and what would you want it to say?

GESS: I would love for Alice Walker and Terry McMillan to say they enjoyed reading about the women in my novels finding their fulfillment..

Scribe: You have one book you’re allowed to push onto all of your friends, and they’re forced to read it to remain your friend — which one would you choose?

GESS: Alice Walker’s The Temple of My Familiar is a novel full of the possibilities of the human experience in the real world.

Scribe: What made you join the board?

GESS: I joined to learn how to create the stories I wanted to read; I stay because of the camaraderie in the WLT community.

Scribe: Here at the WLT, we love sharing book recommendations. What’s one book that has come out within the past few years that you couldn’t put down? (Bonus points if the book is Texas related!)

GESS: This Close to Okay by Leesa Cross-Smith.

Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world? An opportunity for blatant self-promotion!

GESS: I write stories about women getting what they want, need, and deserve.

Scribe: Where can our readers find more of you?

GESS: @GESSwrites
