“I’d love for Kitty Kelley to endorse my work and say that I have a penchant for finding the truth and reporting it no matter what anyone else may think of it.“

Scribe: Welcome, writer! Tell us — what do you write?
Eileen Sisk: I write nonfiction books now, although I have written for newspapers and magazines in the past.
Scribe: If you could choose one author to blurb your book, who would it be, and what would you want it to say?
ES: I’d love for Kitty Kelley to endorse my work and say that I have a penchant for finding the truth and reporting it no matter what anyone else may think of it.
Scribe: You have one book you’re allowed to push onto all of your friends, and they’re forced to read it to remain your friend — which one would you choose?
ES: SUNSHINE AND SHADOW by Jan Howard because it is one of the best country music autobiographies I have read. She lays bare her soul and pulls no punches. She shares her triumphs as well as tragedies. It is a good read.
Scribe: Tell us your WLT story.
ES: I found out about WLT while looking for a new agent online. I moved to Texas in October 2020 and my membership in the Arts and Business Council of Nashville was lapsing this month so I thought this organization might be a good networking group to join.
Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?
ES: I would like to get my latest book, a co-write, published, as well as a novel I wrote back in the 1990s. Then I’d like to focus on a couple of frivolous projects about squirrels and dogs.
Scribe: Here at the WLT, we love sharing book recommendations. What’s one book that has come out within the past few years that you couldn’t put down? (Bonus points if the book is Texas related!)
ES: BONE DEEP: Untangling the Betsy Faria Murder case by Charles Bosworth Jr. and Joel Schwartz.
Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world? An opportunity for blatant self-promotion!
ES: I recently finished a book about a 47-year-old cold case murder of a country singer whom time has forgotten. It is titled ALCOHOL AND TEARS: The True Story of the Life and Death of Singer Jeanie O’Neal. The subject’s granddaughter and I worked on this book together and we are now trying to find a home for it.
