Scribe: Welcome, writer! Tell us — what do you write?

Forrest Landry: I’ve written some stories, now I’m learning how to be an author of novels — good ones that grab you and won’t let go till two days after you’ve finished it. Thank you WLT for GREAT classes!

Scribe: If you could choose one author to blurb your book, who would it be, and what would you want it to say?

FL  “A very moving dance of a woman’s discovering she’s bipolar and saving the landmark café in a Texas town!” – by Anonymous — I don’t know anyone who’d read a novel about this stuff.

Scribe: You have one book you’re allowed to push onto all of your friends, and they’re forced to read it to remain your friend — which one would you choose?

FL: ILLUSIONS by Richard Bach

Scribe: Tell us your WLT story.

FL: I was told I needed to join WLT so I could learn what the hell I was doing with this keyboard and all that disk space. I did and first thing I got was this class “Write B4 You Write” in October 2020, which answered most of my questions about why I was wandering around in a literary fog … and how to find my way forward. Thanks, WLT and Jennifer Ziegler!

Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?

FL: This one I’m not sure about; I don’t have the business acumen to do all the legwork to promote and follow through for publication. Just getting my stories into print was a BIG deal, until I finally caught on how to do it. Then I realized that all those tales need 200-plus rewrites and editors galore … I just don’t have that kind of mind, I’m a wordsmith. So, I’m writing for myself — there’ll be the right person who’ll come along and do all the promotional background, and I’ll answer the questions when necessary. I hope.

Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world? An opportunity for blatant self-promotion!

FL: I’m a bipolar empath veteran with a degree in Journalism (UHouston ’74) and I’m learning how to take care of me, which includes learning to cook — URSH! Chef Surprises!! — and a pretty nice guy all around. And there are a bunch of folks who think I write pretty good.
