Scribe: Welcome, writer! Tell us — what do you write?

Juanita D. Houston: Romantic Suspense is my primary but have written some mystery stories as well.

Scribe: If you could choose one author to blurb your book, who would it be, and what would you want it to say?

JH: I’m honestly not sure.

Scribe: You have one book you’re allowed to push onto all of your friends, and they’re forced to read it to remain your friend — which one would you choose?

JH: There are two. A Separate Peace by John Knowles it has always stuck with me because of the friendship between the main characters. On Writing by Stephen King- it’s about writing but I think it can be applied to more than just that. He’s a unique person.

Scribe: Tell us your WLT story.

JH: I just learned about you through Sisters in Crime. Having just moved to Texas (May 2022) I needed to find a SinC chapter, and discovered WLT was a sponsor. I checked it out a little more and decided it would be something I needed to check out. Hoping to meet other Texas writers and hopefully learn as I go.

Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?

JH: Hopefully to some best sellers and sharing the stories in my head.

Scribe: Here at the WLT, we love sharing book recommendations. What’s one book that has come out within the past few years that you couldn’t put down? (Bonus points if the book is Texas related!)

JH: Sadly I’ve not read many books this year due to moving from Tennessee to Texas. As soon as I can get back into reading, I’ll be happy to answer this.

Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world? An opportunity for blatant self-promotion!

JH: I’m an adult adoptee and have found my birthparents even though I’ve only met my birth mother. I also put something of my past in my books. Give a character a situation that I’ve been through or experienced.

Scribe: Where can our readers find more of you?

JH: You can find me on my Facebook, my Instagram, or my Twitter.
