Meet the Members: Julia Brewer Daily

“When we moved to Texas from Mississippi, I searched for ‘my people.’ I found them at the Writer’s League of Texas.“

— Julia Brewer Daily

A member of the Writers’ League since August 2019, Julia lives in Fredericksburg, TX.

Scribe: Welcome, writer! Tell us — what do you write?

Julia Brewer Daily: Women’s Fiction; Historical Fiction (Vintage fiction).

Scribe: If you could choose one author to blurb your book, who would it be, and what would you want it to say?

JBD: My favorite author who gave a blurb for my book is Stacey Swann. She said, “A gorgeous, thrilling, and important novel! These strong women will capture your heart.” Can’t ask for better than that!

Scribe: You have one book you’re allowed to push onto all of your friends, and they’re forced to read it to remain your friend — which one would you choose?

JBD: Olympus, Texas by Stacey Swann

Scribe: Tell us your WLT story.

JBD: When we moved to Texas from Mississippi, I searched for “my people.” I found them at the Writer’s League of Texas. I think I have taken every class the League offers, attended a writer’s retreat and the conference. I immersed myself in all things writerly and Texas in one organization. I even mention WLT in the acknowledgements of my debut novel.

Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?

JBD: To my second novel!

Scribe: Here at the WLT, we love sharing book recommendations. What’s one book that has come out within the past few years that you couldn’t put down? (Bonus points if the book is Texas related!)

JBD: All Things Left Wild by James Wade

Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world? An opportunity for blatant self-promotion!

JBD: The audiobook version of my novel is an easy listen and makes the characters come to life. The narrator captures a southern tone without being syrupy. All versions of No Names to Be Given are available online wherever you buy books and independent bookstores will order for you upon request.

Scribe: Where can our readers find more of you?
