“When I think of a book that opened up my eyes, I go to those in the spiritual realm, like reading The Celestine Prophecy many years ago when I was in my 20’s.”

Scribe: Welcome, writer! Tell us — what do you write?
MP Mueller: I am an ad copywriter and have blogged in the past for the NY Times. I am currently wrapping up a book of humorous essays based on life lessons.
Scribe: If you could choose one author to blurb your book, who would it be, and what would you want it to say?
MPM: David Sedaris: “I laughed, I peed my pants, I openly wept to Hugh as I read chapters aloud. Formalizing adoption papers now. “
Scribe: You have one book you’re allowed to push onto all of your friends, and they’re forced to read it to remain your friend — which one would you choose?
MPM: I love this question! And it’s guaranteed to yield insights into a person. When I think of a book that opened up my eyes, I go to those in the spiritual realm, like reading The Celestine Prophecy many years ago when I was in my 20’s.
Scribe: Tell us your WLT story.
MPM: My aunt and godmother, Sara Puig Laas, who is a wonderful writer, told me to check out the Writers’ League during a phone call and before we hung up, I had signed up.
Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?
MPM: Connecting with people, perhaps helping them see they are perfect as they are and highly lovable. After they read my book, they will definitely feel normal. Would love to perform some of the essays, too. (Used to be a stand up comic in another life.)
Scribe: Here at the WLT, we love sharing book recommendations. What’s one book that has come out within the past few years that you couldn’t put down? (Bonus points if the book is Texas related!)
MPM: Becoming Duchess Goldblatt was just joy in a cover. Does it count that she has a big connection to Texan Lyle Lovett?
Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world? An opportunity for blatant self-promotion!
MPM: Looking forward to learning more and connecting with writers in the WLT.
