What are you reading right now?

I spend a lot of time reading blogs and online content to stay current with my industry and community topics that interest me.

When you’re not reading or working, what do you like to do with your time?

I really enjoy my work… and when I’m not actually working, I’m often thinking about work!  I also enjoy being involved in community work and leadership.

What life lesson did your last project teach you?

I usually have several projects running concurrently… such is life online… but the best life lesson is that it takes both working hard *and* working smart to be successful.  Hard work alone is like revving your engine with your tires stuck in the mud.  But even the best ideas get nowhere if you don’t turn on the engine at all!

What is a little known fact about yourself?

There’s very little left about me that’s unknown… a consequence of too much community volunteering and social media!

How do you deal with ups and downs of your business?

I’ve been in business for almost 15 years now… so I’ve seen plenty of ups and downs!  I’ve done a good job of growing a loyal customer base that has helped me survive 3 recessions during that time.

How do you balance your business with work and family?

Thankfully I was born into a workaholic family and am dating a workaholic guy!

What is your working routine and where do you work?

My working routine is “all the time” since I work from home!  It’s gotten worse (better?) since I moved into my new office in East Austin, which is actually a work/live condo.  It actually fits my personality better when my home is ¾ dedicated to work.

Cyndi’s Fast Four

1. What are three things in your office/work space that would surprise someone who popped in?

That it’s also my home, with my bedroom in the back!  I think everything else is pretty standard office fare.

2. What book first influenced you as a child?

Influenced?  That’s tough… but the earliest memory I have is of the book Where the Wild Things Are.  My grandmother use to read it to me all the time to the point that I had it memorized!

3. What time of day do you work?

All the hours where I’m not sleeping

4. Beer or coffee?

Coffee, no question!
