The Graphic Novel
After ‘Persepolis’ and ‘Maus,’ graphic novels have established their place in the modern literary cannon. In honor of WLT’s friends at the Texas Book Festival’s event ‘The New Visual Literary of Graphic Novels,’ try out this exercise. Despite your genre, connecting your work to visual elements is always eye opening (pardon the pun) and exciting. This week, try to imagine a poem or piece of fiction as a few pages in a graphic novel. Draw the words out, and have fun. Take out the crayon box, get to writing!

By the way, let us know if you were able to attend the Event! How was it, graphic novelers?
