FREE FALL
On January 29th, seventeen year old Makenzie Washington of Joshua, Texas received a much anticipated birthday present from her father. It had been her wish to skydive. At 3500 feet she opened her parachute but it failed. She spiraled downward trying to open the chute. Somehow she managed to survive with broken ribs, a cracked pelvis, a broken back, a broken shoulder blade and a cracked tooth. Her doctor anticipates a full recovery. Makenzie’s father jumped first and landed safely then watched helplessly as his daughter spiraled down with her chute tangled.
For this week’s writing prompt compose a first person narrative from Makenzie’s or her father’s point of view as she was falling. This can be a poem, a short story or a brief nonfiction narrative. Feel free to post your work in comments.
