Weekly Class Update: June 12, 2023

Hello, writers!

In 2022 we launched the WLT Saturday Craft Seminars. These seminars featured presentations from authors focused on their craft books, a conversation with a WLT staff member, and an extended Q&A, making for events unlike any of our other programming.

We launched this new program with Matt Bell discussing his craft book REFUSE TO BE DONE, and we featured three more authors throughout the year – Melissa Febos, Benjamin Percy, and Peter Ho Davies – who all brought something special to the mix. Writers who joined us for these seminars had a lot of good to say:

– “LOVED IT! I loved the format very much. Great content followed by great conversation.”

– “These are fantastic courses and have been instrumental in helping advance my craft. Thank you!”

– “I really like this program and look forward to the next installment.”

And the next installments are finally here. We’re so excited to announce we’re bringing back our Saturday Craft Seminars with two new books this July. On Saturday, July 8th, Matt Bird will join us to talk about his craft book “The Secrets of Character: Writing a Hero Anyone Will Love” and on Saturday, July 29th we’ll dive into “Gentle Writing Advice: How to Be a Writer Without Destroying Yourself” with Chuck Wendig. Tickets are $35 and include copies of the books and access to the live Zoom events.

Plus, if you’re hoping to spend your summer honing your craft, don’t miss out on the Summer Writing Retreat. We’re offering three different classes and a write away option, AND registration includes access to both Saturday Craft Seminars, as well as a number of other special events.

Coming up this week, we’re closing out this season of classes with a look at revision for long-form works with Charlotte Gullick. If you’re ready to take your manuscript to the next level, you don’t want to miss this class.

Keep scrolling for more details on all that’s in store for these next few months. I hope to see you soon!

All the best,

Sam Babiak
Program Director
