Texas Writes in Menard, TX

Texas Writes is a statewide program that brings accomplished authors to rural libraries for a half day of presentations and panel discussions focused on the craft of writing.

Our Menard, TX event features Meg Gardiner presenting on “Killer Plots: Building Tension & Creating Conflict in Fiction” and Charlotte Gullick presenting on “Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall: Bringing a Story to Life Through the Seasons.”

We’ll start at 1:00 PM CST with our presentations and we’ll conclude with a conversation with both authors, moderated by WLT Executive Director Becka Oliver.

Featured Presenter(s)

Charlotte Gullick is Chair of the Creative Writing Department at Austin Community College. She holds BA in Literature/Creative Writing from UC Santa Cruz and a MA in English/Creative Writing from UC Davis as well as a MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the Institute of American Indian Arts. Her awards include a Christopher Isherwood Fellowship for Fiction, a Colorado Council on the Arts Fellowship for Poetry, and residencies at MacDowell and Ragdale. She is the author of the novel By Way of Water.
Meg Gardiner's novels have been bestsellers in the U.S. and internationally, and have been translated into more than 20 languages. China Lake won the 2009 Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original. The Nightmare Thief won the 2012 Audie Award for Thriller/Suspense Audiobook of the Year. UNSUB won the 2018 Barry Award for Best Thriller. Her latest novel is Into the Black Nowhere.
