Hello, writers!
Novelists are under a lot of pressure to get their opening pages and chapters just right. One of the biggest reasons for this is that agents, editors, and readers will make decisions about a book based off of this first impression, which can mean the difference between publication or a book sale, but novelists need to be thinking about a novel’s opening well before it reaches readers.
When it comes to the writing process, a novel’s opening pages set the tone for the rest of the book. It’s the time to plant seeds for important conflicts to come and to set up characters and their trajectories, but if this isn’t done well early on, novelists can easily lose their momentum as they make their way to the end.
That’s why we’re excited to offer the class “Jump Start Your Novel” with Sara Kocek on Wednesday, March 1st. If you’re just beginning the process of working on a novel or if you’re already deep in the process but want to hone your opening pages, you don’t want to miss this class.
All the best,
